Question 1

What is forestry mulching?

Accepted Answer

Forestry mulching is a land clearing method that uses a single tracked machine with a rotating drum of carbide teeth to cut, grind, and mulch trees, brush, and vegetation simultaneously. The mulch is left on the ground as a natural ground cover — no burning, no hauling, no debris piles. It's the most efficient and environmentally responsible land clearing method available in Kentucky.

Question 2

What size trees can a forestry mulcher handle?

Accepted Answer

Our equipment handles trees up to 8–10 inches in diameter. For larger timber, we'll discuss options during the free onsite visit. Most brush, saplings, and small trees common on Kentucky properties are well within our equipment's capability.

Question 3

Is forestry mulching better than bulldozing?

Accepted Answer

For most properties, yes. Forestry mulching is faster, less invasive, and leaves your topsoil intact. It doesn't require burning or hauling debris, and the mulch layer reduces erosion and improves soil health. Bulldozing strips topsoil, creates massive debris piles, and often requires burning or expensive hauling.

Question 4

Does forestry mulching kill the roots?

Accepted Answer

Forestry mulching grinds vegetation above and just below the soil surface. For most brush and small trees, this is sufficient to prevent regrowth. Some aggressive species like Japanese honeysuckle may require follow-up herbicide treatment to prevent regrowth from root fragments.

Question 5

What is left after forestry mulching?

Accepted Answer

After forestry mulching, you're left with a clean property covered in a natural mulch layer of ground-up wood and vegetation. The mulch decomposes over time, returning nutrients to the soil. There are no debris piles, no stumps, no burning required, and no mess. The property is clean and usable immediately.

Question 6

How long does forestry mulching take?

Accepted Answer

Most residential lots (1–3 acres) are completed in a single day. Larger properties of 5–10 acres typically take 2–3 days. We'll give you an accurate timeline estimate before we start. We work efficiently and don't drag projects out.

Question 7

Does forestry mulching work on honeysuckle?

Accepted Answer

Yes — honeysuckle removal is one of our specialties. Japanese honeysuckle is one of the most invasive plants in Kentucky. Our forestry mulching equipment grinds it down completely in a single pass. For severe infestations, follow-up herbicide treatment may be recommended to prevent regrowth from root fragments.

Question 8

How much does forestry mulching cost in Northern Kentucky?
